AUTUMN CRUISE on the Cape

Oct 25th, Saturday: drive from Falmouth to Bourne along back roads.

The CCBCC has done this tour for the last 3 years driving from Bourne to Woods Hole and parking at WCAI. Unfortunately, WCAI has moved and the parking lot is no longer available.  So let’s do the tour in reverse and see the road from a different perspective.

Here’s the plan:  we all meet at Iris Cape Cod hotel in Falmouth, have an optional continental (or hot from the menu) breakfast in their dining room, then drive from Falmouth to Nobska Lighthouse, through Woods Hole, and then up back roads and the scenic shore road to the Lobster Trap, where we will stop for lunch.

Put Oct 25 on your calendar.

Registration:   Registration is NOT required if you are only going to do the cruise and/ or lunch.

Breakfast Registration:  The Iris Hotel would like to know if you are going to have breakfast.  Please click the registration button if you think you will be coming for breakfast at the Iris Hotel. Please CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLY IF YOU ARE HAVING AUTUMN CRUISE BREAKFAST (Continental or Hot).  Please indicate how many people are coming.  Answer YES to the Activity question.

The cost of the continental breakfast is ~$15/person.  Please pay at the restaurant.

Event Details:

8:30 – 10:00 – optional continental or hot breakfast at Iris Hotel Cape Cod, Falmouth

10:15 – Driver / Navigator meeting at the Iris Hotel Cape Cod parking lot.

10:30 – Cruise starts

12:30 – arrive at Lobster Pot

12:30 – 2:00 – lunch

It is open to anyone owning a British car.

• 15 rooms have been blocked out at Harbor View Hotel for Friday, Oct 31^st and Saturday, Nov. 1st
• Club members can reserve rooms for the event per your individual plans. The group room rate is $275 per night. The rate outside of these dates is significantly higher.
• Reservations should be made by calling the Hotel direct at – 1 866-994-6963 identify yourself as The British Car Club – Martha’s Vineyard Weekend.
• Please make your reservation early, both for the hotel and for the ferry.

EVENT – Martha’s Vineyard Weekend Getaway

Some of the group leave on Friday, others prefer to meet Saturday at 7:30AM for a breakfast at Betsy’s in Falmouth, then head to the Woods Hole harbor for the 9:30 ferry.

Everyone meets up at the Tashmoo Overlook on Saturday morning about 10:30AM for a brief driver’s meeting.

Road tour begins at 10:45 with a stop for lunch in Oak Bluffs. Dinner on Saturday evening is on your own.

Sunday morning has three organized choices:

1. A drive and hike to Menemsha Hills/Prospect Hill. The highest point overlook in all the Cape and Islands.
2. A short drive and ferry ride to Chappaquiddick Island and the Mytoi Japanese gardens.
3. A self-directed walking of Poly Hill Arboretum
4. There is also an option to stop at the Alpaca Farm on the return the Woods Hole ferry in Vineyard Haven.

Most return Sunday, Nov 2nd, on the 2:30 Sunday afternoon ferry back to Woods Hole arriving at 3:15. There is a later ferry leaving at 3:45 and arriving in Woods Hole at 4:30.

THE EVENT:

The CCBCC Freezing’ Fun Run For Kids (FFR4Ks) is an exciting annual fundraising event for Independence House and a great social gathering for CCBCC where we come together for a cruise and a lunch and raise much needed funds for IH.  CCBCC is proud to have a 22 year old relationship with this highly respected non-profit service organization that provides much needed services to abused women and their families.  Last year’s FFR4Ks raised over $6,300 for Independence House.

Important things to know:

• Pre-register yourself and guests on the CCBCC website so we know you are coming.
• Pepay the lunch for yourself and guests when you register. $35/person for lunch.
• Each car brings a gift card ($25 or more).  This is your entry fee/car to the event.  All cards go to Independence House.
• Bring an item for the silent auction.  Think of something that people will want to bid on.
• Bring cash or checks to pay for items you win at silent auction.  Credit Cards will NOT work.

  • Bring your checkbook and/or cash.  Credit cards will not work.

  • 9:00-9:30AM –    Check-In / Registration @ Overlook Clubhouse, Pinehills.
  • 9:45.   – Driver/Navigator meeting
  • 10:00  –  Cruise commences
  • 11:00-11:30  – Cruise ends at Overlook Clubhouse.
• Lunch Details:
  • Catered lunch from Mamma Mia’s Restaurant, the Pinehills
  • Cost: $35/person.  Please pre-pay when you register online.
• Silent Auction
  • IMPORTANT: BRING CASH or CHECKS.  We do not have Credit Card capability.
  • 1:00PM  auction starts
  • 1:30PM  pick up and pay
  • 2:00PM  finish

Tradition demands that tops are down/off despite the temperature – that’s why it’s the Freezing’ Run.

(You can choose what transportation to bring if it’s raining/snowing.)

You can do this by sending a check to the CCBCC, P.O. Box 1661, Sandwich MA 02563.  Make your check payable to Independence House and we will include it in our donation package to IH.

Come to the Iris Hotel Cape Cod, Falmouth for the CCBCC Breakfast and Membership Meeting.

Arrive 8:30AM or before and have some breakfast from their excellent buffet (~$18).

At 9:00AM, we will begin our General meeting:
